2008 Wisconsin Dells family vacation

This year for our summer vacation we had friends go along with us. They have 3 kids and everyone had a great time even though the weather tried to spoil our trip. We had a wonderful day on Friday when we arrived. We went and took a duck boat ride on Lake Delton and the Wisconsin River. We spend the rest of the day at the waterparks at our hotel. They had so many things for kids and adults to do.
Saturday we started the day off at the Deer Park and everyone had a nice time there. The kids were so fun to watch. However later Saturday we got moved from the outdoor pool due to lightening. We were just settling into the indoor waterpark when they had to close that too due to a tornado warning. We had to all stand in the halls, we lost power and could hear the winds. No actual tornado hit, but there was very strong winds that uprooted trees and did damage to homes. We thought if we went on vacation maybe we could leave the tornado warnings behind us, guess not.

Here are some pictures from our trip:

Daniel took a while to warm up to the water, but once he found a place he felt comfortable with he had so much fun.

We had to stop at a Wisconsin cheese factory. I think they had about any kind of cheese a person could want. Most importantly....cheese curds. Yum!
At Deer Park this year Daniel had such a super time. He loved feeding the animals crackers. Now whenever he sees a picture of a deer he says 'cracker'.

Sammy was taking in all the sights too.

We had to go visit Paul Bunyon again and have a wonderful dinner.

Not sure, what do you think....did we wear our Daniel on our trip? He was so tired on the way home. It was an exciting weekend.
We had driven to the Dells in horrible winds. We drove home in terrible rain. There was flooding everywhere. So sad to see all the farm land so flooded. After we return home safe and sound we hear there was more damage to the Dells area. Turns out the dam broke and the beautiful Lake Delton was completely drained of all it's water in about 3 hours time. Taking at least 5 large homes when it went. Hard to believe we were just there and now the lake is just a big hole. Mother nature is sure showing us her power this summer.
Bad flooding is ravaging our area now too.
